The 27 year old heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has expressed his keen interest in his 2 year old son’s future as he indicated that he is the heir to his throne. Though he is not forcing him into the ring, he encouraged him to take up worth ethics and values, he shared this with Sky Sports.
“I think my first born, my son, is going to grow to be like me. Hardworking, understanding the sacrifices, because he’s the heir to the throne” he said.
The British pro-boxer likes his family and private matters to stay private but he didn’t hesitate to share what advice he would give to his son.
“I would rather him start from the top, using his brain. I had to start in the middle, starting with my fist. If he can start from the top, I will be happy but if he wants to fight, he has to use this [his brain] as well” he explained.
As skeptical as his mum was when he told her he wanted to be a boxer, she’s now at the receiving end of the fruits of his labor he disclosed. ” My mum comes home and she says ‘I got my car washed for free and I got a parking space when they told me it was full’. I think she’s enjoying it.
“When I first told her I wanted to box, she was like ‘boxing? why boxing of all things?’ but she’s starting to see the discipline, the dedication and have matured through the sports. She sees the benefits and stuff, so it’s nice to see her enjoy the fruit of the labor” he added.
After his win against Wladimir Klitschko, the 27 year old boxer has acknowledged the lessons it thought him as he re-watched it. “I still got the win but if I knew what I knew now, looking back, I think I would have done it a lot easier. There would be a time where I would probably get beat, and it’s up to me to come back and like that redemption and get back to my books and my basics and try to redeem myself. That’s just how it goes in the sport” he said.
