Despite not featuring much last season for Chelsea, at age 36, John Terry is still rock solid and energetic to make the cut for any Premier League club and that can be proved as Westham and Westbrom were all lined up for him before he sign for Aston Villa.
John Terry signed a one year deal with Aston Villa on 3rd July, 2017 after spending 22 years at Chelsea. The player has been reported to receive £60, 000 a week from the championship villains and as many believed he joined because of the money, he gave a rather sacred reason for his decision.
“It was just playing against Chelsea, just didn’t sit right with me. To be honest… the raw emotions of leaving a club after so long then, just didn’t sit right with me, and as I said, I love big financial offers and still play in the Premier League and still play at the top” he revealed.

His loyaltyfor Chelsea runs deep and he won’t be able to see himself play against them. We all remember that awkward moment when Frank Lampard scored against Chelsea after joining Manchester City and he just couldn’t celebrate his own goal. He also pointed that the only reason he signed for Aston Villa now as he opposed to years back was because they are in the Championship now, and that made it easier for him.
“It’s not for financial reasons…For few weeks, a lot of managers gave me a lot of time and respect to make my decision and come to terms with it because it’s been 22 years at Chelsea. It took a few more weeks longer than I probably predicted, but like I said, 22 fantastic and unbelievable years I won’t forget but I am excited by this challenge here of getting into the top” he added.
