Giroud: Chelsea Perfect For Me

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud believes Chelsea is the ‘perfect’ club for him as he looks to secure his place in France’s World Cup squad.

Giroud started just one Premier League game for Arsenal this season after falling behind Alexandre Lacazette in the pecking order and his hopes of trying to break back into the first team were dealt a blow following the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Having been linked with a number of clubs, Giroud made the move to Premier League rivals Chelsea and he impressed as he made his full debut in Monday’s 3-0 win over West Brom.

“It’s been a while since I played regularly and that’s why I needed to move. I needed a new challenge and Chelsea was the perfect club for me,” Giroud told the Daily Mirror.

“It’s the Premier League, a club which has won more titles in the past ten years than any other. It’s a massive club and I am very proud to be here and to carry on my career in the Premier League.

“I had five amazing years there, but now it’s a new chapter of my career and I am focused 100 per cent on the Blues to reach our targets. I’m very happy to be here.”

Having been left out of Arsenal’s FA Cup third round defeat to Nottingham Forest, Giroud is free to feature for Chelsea when they host Hull on Friday in the fifth round, while he can also play in the Champions League last-16.

“I am back in the FA Cup and the Champions League, and we are going to take the games step by step,” the Frenchman added. “We want to qualify in the FA Cup and then we have three big games to come against Barcelona in the Champions League and then Manchester United and Manchester City away.

“That’s why we need the confidence high. We just need the momentum.”

  1. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.
