Manchester City Eye Sporting Lisbon Teen Rafael Leao Who Has Hit five Goals In Six UEFA Youth League Matches
Manchester City are showing a keen interest in Sporting Lisbon forward Rafael Leao.
The 18-year-old has not long broken into Sporting’s first team squad but has impressed those around him in the past two months.
Now multiple foreign clubs, including City, have taken notice.
Leao came off the bench on Sunday to replace Bryan Ruiz after 69 minutes and helped Sporting beat Feirense 2-0.
Demanding Sporting coach Jorge Jesus has been full of praise for the teenager, though he admits he needs to improve concentration levels when out of possession.
The club gave him an improved contract in October which doubled his salary.
Leao, a Portugal Under 21 international, has been at Sporting since the age of nine.
He plays off the left wing or as a striker, where he scored five goals in six games in the UEFA Youth League, plus six goals in 11 games for Sporting’s second string in the Segunda Liga.
